Gaea The Origin

Cornovaglia, Giardino di Heligan

Before the beginning, there was Gaea (Gaia), the Earth with her ample bosom, mother of all living things. Tellus (the Earth, in Latin) is pulsating. She has a heart of magma. She emanates an unstoppable force that continually creates and transforms. She creates, emanates, and reabsorbs. She generates, brings to maturity, decay and death, and then returns to generate again. Her fertility is prodigious. She suckles without limit. She possesses everything that is hers. Everything that exists belongs to her.

Gaea is the archaic and primordial Feminine. Totipotent (i.e. endowed with every imaginable power), absolute and indomitable. Gaia (another name for Gaea) bestows gifts, nourishment, strength, and vigour. She incorporates – at the end of each life cycle – everything that no longer has a reason to exist and transforms it into new forms, into new cycles of existence. Because Gaea’s vocation to nourish Life – and its continuous passages – is irrepressible.

Gaea is the power of the Earth. An ungovernable primordial force. The dispenser of every good needed by man; holder of the original and originating Matter; regulator of the cycles of Nature; ruler of the processes of life, death, and rebirth.

Gaea and the proto (absolutely first) Mother.

Supreme Lady.

Before her, we kneel.

The Earth Goddess is not ours…. we … are hers…

So vast are the territories over which she reigns, that she must be represented lying on her side.

Gaia draws life from death, and from this perpetual change comes her incalculable abundance.

Hidden treasures lie in the womb of Gaea, in her deepest place. Mother Earth gives man metal from her bowels so that he too can begin a transformation.

But this is another story…
